I love people. As corny as it sounds, it couldn’t be more true. I love that what I do allows me to meet and interact with people I may never have spoken to otherwise. I love seeing what makes people tick, watching how families interact and how they laugh together. Because in the midst of all the newness of the family I’m working with, I find myself reminded of my own home and family and remember that at the end of it we are all very much the same. Today I spent the morning with a beautiful family…

…who were gathered in celebration of Jack’s baptism… (You knew I had to sneak in a cute baby photo. I simply can’t help myself when one is so readily available!) But really, who could resist this amount of chub? Not me.

And I was assisted by my good friend Chris. Thanks Chris!

After a quick stop at home, I met up with some fellow photographers for a ‘trash the dress’ session, organized by the lovely and insanely talented Melissa Diep.

I had a great day filled with all sorts of people – clients, models, peers, friends, family- they all put a smile on my face keep me going!  Two very different shoots to culminate in one perfect day. More photos coming soon!

Just a quick peek from my session this morning. Babies and springtime are lovely aren’t they?

I photographed Katelyn first when she was 4 months old, and came back again for another session a couple weeks ago. She has grown so much! Here are some of my favorites from the day of this sweet, sweet girl.

K3

She’s moving around quickly these days! Before I knew it, she was climbing stairs:

She loves her dog Charlie:

K6

Because he was dying to get his own portrait done, he climbed up on the couch like a cat and posed for me. I had to oblige:

Here’s Katelyn in her fancy dress:

Sweet as can be…

More coming soon! Have a great week :)

I had a delightful morning with Baby Ava! So much so, that I almost packed her up and took her home with me. Because really, how can you not be in love with this little angel?

BabyA1

She was all smiles the whole time. I love her little face :)

BabyA2

She’s got her first two teeth coming in and she wasn’t afraid to show me:

In case you haven’t noticed, I have a special love for butterflies, so I was thrilled when Ava’s mom had these wings ready!

BabyA4

I couldn’t wait another second to blog these because she is too cute! I need to get me one of these for my place :)

Chicago in the fall is really the best time of year, and it’s my favorite time of year to photograph. One of the best parts about what I do is the fact that I’m forced to get out there bright and early and enjoy the weather on days that I would normally sleep in. I always feel better after a session in the morning, especially when it involves cute little kids! To top it off, I had the rare opportunity to reconnect with an old childhood friend, Cary, who asked me to photograph her 2 year old Dylan, along with his cousins Arthur and Elyssa. Cary has been my friend since we were four and five years old, and it’s crazy to think that I’m now photographing her son!

Here are some of my favorites… Arthur, Dylan, & Elyssa…

Love this brother and sister shot:

Dylan’s got a great little smile! He’s such a perfect blend of his mom and dad!

Elyssa’s dimple kills me. So cute!

Arthur is the spitting image of his father…

Don’t you just want to squeeze those cheeks?

The weather was too perfect today to not take advantage. I wandered into the woods for a stroll, and look at the little ladybug I found!

Happy Halloween from Valentina! :)

As promised, here are some of my favorite shots of Luke from last Sunday’s session. He’s 2 and a half and is quite a talkative little man! He loved seeing himself in the lens of the camera:

He loves his bubbles!

He is truly mama’s little boy:

But he looks just like his dad, I think!

Here’s a family shot that I loved:

Isn’t he a sweetie?

It was an all day baby fest last Sunday. I loved it! My morning started off with a trip to the burbs to visit baby Katelyn who is 4 months old, followed by a downtown shoot of 2 year old Luke, whose photos I will be blogging shortly. Here are some of Katelyn. Her eyes are so blue! I love the look on her face here:

But she was much happier with her clothes off :)

I think there is yoga in her future:

Her mommy and daddy, Jenny and Mark, love her so much!

So does their dog, Charlie:

I love baby feet :)

Thanks Mark, Jenny, and Katelyn! See you in a few months!

When I met up with Glenn, Ivy, and their baby Gianna I knew we’d have a pretty sweet location to shoot in – but I had NO idea how fantastic these spots would be. Today I found some of my favorite places ever and I can’t wait to go back there to shoot again! All of the images below were taken outside the Nature Museum in Lincoln Park, the Lily Pond by the Lincoln Park Zoo and outside the Lincoln Park Conservatory. The fabulous location, and the fact that I’ve been fiending for a cute baby to photograph lately really got me excited!

Gianna is 10 months old and a total ham for the camera.  (Glenn’s a pretty great photographer himself, so she has had some time to get comfortable!) She was ready to go as soon as I met her!

Here are a few of my favorites:

The miracle shot – I had this vision of Gianna in a field of flowers and didn’t think we’d be able to pull it off and get Gianna to cooperate… The last 5 minutes of the session it miraculously worked out. I love this one!

Everywhere I looked there were so many amazing images to be made, it was a dream!

Seriously, I thought I was in heaven!

Gianna’s just starting to pull herself up to and I think she’ll be walking in no time!

Gianna is so incredibly loved…

A couple of just Ivy and Glenn:

Isn’t she gorgeous?
